Gray
Chapter
4
Well,
now that we've seen the massive horde of Stalkers rumbling towards
us, you can imagine our faces. Gray whipped the cube out from his
pack and practically punched it. It flared white and the screen
appeared. The monsters let out an ear shattering screech as they
increased their speed. The ship suddenly appeared in the dust as Gray
threw the cube back in his pack. We all climbed inside and Lime
pulled out a remote detonator. We got strapped into our seats and
Gray nodded at Lime.
The
monsters were Literally feet away from the ship as Lime activated the
Beam. There was a split second of time before we lifted off the
ground. So I looked out the window, and All I saw was whiteness.
Then
we were gone.
We
reappeared in some sort of building. The bluish light emitted from
the walls lit the room with a comfortable glow. The ceiling was
rather high, being almost fifteen feet above my head. The whole
building was made out of an interesting plastic-type material. After
we had left the ship, we walked toward the center of the room, and a
small coffee table and a few couches rose out of the floor.
We
sat down and Grey launched into a huge explanation about everything
that had happened since we had left my house.
In
short, the Stalkers were the remnants of Govahn's army. Govahn was
the leader of the rebellion against the Alliance, and apparently he
had taken over the Alliance's outpost's on the planet that the
Alliance had previously held. Gray and Lime currently knew nothing
about the whereabouts of the remnants of the Alliance, if it even
still existed.
The
beam had been a last resort option for if at any time had the
rebellion sought to release the Stalkers. If anyone had, for that
matter. It basically is a special laser that incinerates the stalkers
skin, but passes harmlessly through everything else. But once it was
used, it could not be used again for the next year, due to the
immense amounts of power it required.
So when he had appeared in
the woods that morning, he had just left Lime in the bunker with The
beam. It had been powering up when he left, and she was supposed to
keep low until it was finished. Then she would meet up with me and
Gray back at my house.
But the stalkers found her
first.
Gray fell silent, indicating
that Lime should speak. She sunk further into the plush couch and
began. It was just a small platoon, and she took them out swiftly and
quietly. But not before a distress signal was sent back to wherever
their HQ was. She waited for almost a whole hour before more showed
up. It was just a few more small platoons, and they were obviously
quickly thrown together. When she sighted down the scope of her
silenced sniper rifle, they were disoriented and bickering. Easy prey
for a sniper.
But right behind them was
the whole army. She immediately picked up the messaging system that
Gray had left her and a heavy MG. She sent out her own distress
signal and had started to pour laser fire at the front ranks of the
writhing horde of Stalkers. That was when we had abruptly changed
course and appeared in the bunker moments later. We knew the rest, so
she sat back. The room was silent for a minute, the only sound being
a faint rumble in the distance.
